Zoora FC held out for a goalless draw at Lakeside Grounds on Sunday, with goalkeeper Denis Okwir the difference between a share of the points and a first defeat of the season.
A game of few chances, decided by fine margins
Lakeside Rangers pressed for long spells in a tight, physical contest, forcing Okwir into a string of saves either side of half-time. At the other end, Allan Ssenyonga twice went close before being shut out by a well-organised home defence.
Head coach Charles Wamala praised the away side's discipline. "We knew this would be a difficult afternoon. To come away with a clean sheet against a good side shows the character in this group," he said after the final whistle.
Fans crown their Player of the Match
With the match settled goalless, supporters turned to the club app to recognise the man who kept it that way. Denis Okwir was named Zoora FC's fan Player of the Match, collecting the majority of votes cast during the voting window.
Zoora FC are back in action at Zoora Arena in their next home fixture.
