Determined to build on their previous goalless draw against Uganda Police FC, UPDF FC approached the encounter with renewed purpose, seeking to turn their competitive performances into a positive result.
The breakthrough arrived in the 43rd minute when Hussein Zzinda found the back of the net to hand the hosts a crucial advantage heading into the halftime break.
Zzinda's goal proved to be the difference between the two sides, as the Army team successfully protected their slender lead throughout the second half to claim maximum points.
A disciplined team performance
Despite Maroons FC enjoying a slightly larger share of possession, UPDF FC demonstrated determination at both ends of the pitch.
The hosts registered eight corner kicks compared to Maroons' four, demonstrating their willingness to push forward and create attacking opportunities.
At the other end, the UPDF FC defence stood firm, denying the visitors a route back into the contest and ensuring the team finished the afternoon with a clean sheet.
The final whistle confirmed a welcome victory for the Army side, rewarding the players' collective effort and commitment over the 90 minutes.
Building momentum in the league
The victory provided an important boost to UPDF FC's campaign following an opening-round goalless draw against Kataka FC, a 2-1 defeat to Entebbe UPPC FC and a 0-0 draw away to Uganda Police FC.
With the win over Maroons, the Army side moved to five points from their opening four league matches, providing a platform to build on as the campaign progresses.
Attention now turns to the next league assignment, with the team determined to maintain its competitive spirit, improve its performances and build on this positive result.
UPDF FC extends its appreciation to the supporters who continue to stand behind the team. Together, we march forward!
